Normally the models in BMW’s art car line — sixteen and counting — get their body panels splashed up with designs by the who’s who of the art world. BMW has decided to switch up the concept for a commercial for the new Z4; instead of the car being the canvas, the Z4 paints a canvas. Guided by modern artist Robin Rhode and a team of technicians, the Z4 is rigged up with machines that spray paint from the wheels, with everything captured on film by director Jake Scott, Ridley’s son. The tire prints in all kinds of hues are laid down on an enormous white canvas, and the result is called “An Expression of Joy.” You can check out the press release after the jump, the high-res gallery of images below, and Wallpaper magazine has behind the scenes video. If you like what you see, you might even be able to buy a slice of it in due time.

Japanese gamers evidently don’t want to work; they just want to bang on the virtual drum all day. Or, more specifically, the Wii release of Namco’s Taiko no Tatsujin, which barely eked out a first-place spot over Animal Crossing: City Folk in Media Create’s Japanese software sales charts for December 8 through 14. In all, four Wii titles and six DS games comprised the top 10.

  1. Taiko no Tatsujin (Wii): 106K
  2. Animal Crossing: City Folk (Wii): 98K
  3. Hoshi no Kirby: Ultra Super Deluxe (DS): 95K
  4. Wagamama Fashion Girls Mode (DS): 63K
  5. Penguin no Mondai: Saikyou Penguin Densetsu! (DS): 59K
  6. Professor Layton and the Final Time Journey (DS): 58K
  7. Pokémon Platinum (DS): 58K
  8. Rhythm Tengoku Gold (DS): 45K
  9. Wii Fit (Wii): 43K
  10. Mario Kart Wii (Wii): 34K

How would you change the T-Mobile G1?

The T-Mobile G1, the world’s very first commercially available Android-based handset, ushered in a new era of mobile computing when it launched earlier this year. The long-awaited Googlephone had finally come to fruition, and it managed to warm the hearts of just about everyone that touched it. But like any phone, it wasn’t without its flaws, some of which are still being worked out today. For those of you who decided to pull the trigger, you’ve had the past few months to see how it stacks up. The question is, how does it stack up? What are you hoping for in the next firmware update? Are you completely satisfied with the hardware? Are you longing for a capacitive touchscreen and and a slightly less noticeable chin? It’s okay to criticize your dear G1 — it’s all in the name of love, after all.

First Look: Mouse House

Mouse House is a very adorable and surprisingly complicated puzzle game from Plaid World Studios. At first look, it seems like a very simple game with graphics that appear to be on par with Super Nintendo games. But, it’s actually surprisingly tough and addictive.

The game’s premise is simple — eat cheese and progress through the unlocked doors once they open. Along the way, you have to dodge bees, evil rats, crumbling floors and try not to get pinned in a corner by pushing balls the wrong way. It looks simple, but isn’t. After completing the 8-level tutorial, it took me a few retries to get through the next few levels.

The sound effects are truly what make this game stand out. The little noises from eating cheese and getting through an open door successfully are quite adorable. The controls are easy to use — tap the screen in a vertical or horizontal line from where the mouse is and he’ll move to that spot. There’s no game soundtrack other than the sound effects. Instead, you can listen to the music already loaded on your iPhone or iPod Touch and the sound effects will play over the music. However, I enjoy the effects so much I simply play without the music.

Mouse House (link opens iTunes) is currently available for US$.99

Click above for a high-res gallery of the Bugatti Veyron Vincero by Mansory

We’re convinced the Bugatti Veyron has to have the highest ratio of variants per total production — Ford Mustang included. There’s the Sang Noir, a first and second version of the Hermes, Pur Sang, Grand Sport, and now the Vincero built by Mansory. Not much is known about the car since no information is listed on the Swiss tuner’s web site, but United Arab Emirates exotic car dealer Prestige Cars has posted the car for sale, listing it as one of three built. Looking at the photos, the Vincero features a carbon fiber hood and engine cover, new black wheels, and an interior that has been reupholstered in black and white with carbon fiber trim. It’s not everyone’s taste, but we definitely wouldn’t kick it out of the garage.

Spy Shots: 2010 Audi A4 Allroad

A lot of American consumers were disappointed when the Audi Allroad was sent to the guillotine in 2005. Based on the A6 Avant, the Allroad’s positioning as a more-than-a-wagon, less-than-an-SUV made it a versatile performer, but middling sales meant that U.S. consumers never got a crack at the second-generation model available overseas since 2006.

Judging by this newest prototype and a similar one spied back in February, it appears that the current Allroad will get an A4 Avant-based kid brother. Spy shots show a such a car testing in the kind of latitude that is home to the A4 Avant’s primary competition, Volvo’s XC70, not to mention the Saab 9-3X that’s right around the corner. With everyone going back to the ‘small ball’ playbook for a while, maybe Audi has the timing right this time. The only question now is: will it come to the States?

The diabolically addictive PS3 tower defense game, PixelJunk Monsters, is officially headed to PSP next year (which, if you haven’t checked your calendar, is pretty soon). Appearing on Spike TV‘s “The Next Great Game Gods” VGA tie-in special, Q Games founder, Dylan Cuthbert, confirmed – and very briefly showed – the game.

After a short show-and-tell of conceptual images for canned projects – which included skiing and fighting games – Cuthbert broke the news, saying that, “We got a lot of requests from fan mail and stuff saying they really wanted a PSP-native version [of PixelJunk Monsters].” But the game won’t merely be the PSN title retooled for the small screen. “We thought, rather than just port it directly, let’s add a bit more,” Cuthbert teased. You can watch the full segment (Cuthbert appears about half-way through) after the break.

[Thanks, Chris]
